What engine and transmission does the BMW S1000 RR use?

The RR model is known for its spectacular performance on the track and the open road. It uses a 999cc four-stroke inline-four cylinder engine. It is water/oil-cooled and has four titanium valves per cylinder. Fuel is injected electronically for mixture control, and the engine employs a ride-by-wire throttle system, variable intake, and a knock sensor for engine management. Additionally, the constant-mesh six-speed gearbox has straight-cut gears. This setup gives the S1000 RR a blazing 205 horsepower, 83 lb-ft of torque, and a 185 MPH top speed!
